Data Handling & Security

ChooseGOD uses Supabase for secure authentication and database storage. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, reading progress, notes, and bookmarks.

AI Ethics & Data Processing

Our AI features are powered by OpenAI. When you use the AI companion, your queries are processed to provide helpful responses. No personally identifiable information (PII) is sent to AI models. We do not use your conversations to train AI models. Your spiritual journey remains private and confidential.

AI Theological Guardrails

The ChooseGOD AI companion operates within strict theological boundaries designed to protect the integrity of your Bible study experience:

  • All AI responses are constrained to orthodox Christian doctrine and historic theology
  • The AI uses the Socratic method — guiding your study through questions, not dictating answers
  • Theological boundary prompts are applied before every response is generated
  • The AI will never present fringe interpretations as mainstream doctrine
  • The AI encourages pastoral guidance for serious spiritual matters

Analytics & Error Tracking

We use the following services to improve your experience:

  • PostHog: Product analytics to understand feature usage and improve the app. Data is anonymized or pseudonymized.
  • Sentry: Error tracking to identify and fix bugs quickly. Crash data does not include personal content such as notes or prayers.

You can opt out of analytics at any time in your app settings. Opting out does not affect your access to any features.

Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

  • Delete your account and all associated data directly within the app settings
  • Export your data including notes, highlights, and reading progress
  • Opt out of optional analytics at any time

Information We Collect

  • Account Information: Email address for authentication
  • Usage Data: Reading progress, bookmarks, highlights, and notes you create
  • Device Information: Basic device type for app optimization
  • AI Interactions: Questions asked to the AI companion (without PII)
  • Analytics Data: Anonymized usage patterns collected via PostHog
  • Error Reports: Crash and error data collected via Sentry

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, all your personal data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Some anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes.

Children's Privacy

ChooseGOD is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.
